Joe Cunningham has been involved in pop, rock, jazz, classical, folk, and experimental music. He became involved in avant garde and experimental music while studying percussion at Dalhousie University in Halifax in the 70s and 80s where he spent about 8 years in the strange and experimental ensembles of Dr. Steve Tittle. He began composing in those years. His eclectic background is reflected in his ironically melodic and harmonic bent. He now spends his time in the southwestern Alberta, Canada Rocky Mountains where he can be found mostly flyfishing, or hobnobbing in the Calgary food scene. Joe spent his middle lost years hopelessly and needlessly experimenting with bureaucracy and "The System".
